About Night Cap
Vancouver/New York’s Joel Hanna and Calgary’s Danny Nielsen and the Vancouver Spring Show are proud to present “Night Cap”, an evening of music and dance by some of the most sought-after tap dance artists in the world, including special guest Jason Samuels Smith (New York City) . Delivered with the classic style and humour reminiscent of The Rat Pack and backed by the 8-piece Last Call Band, with Jaclyn Guillou as special guest vocalist, Night Cap will showcase a delicious mix of rhythm, Big Band, Motown soul, and Afro Cuban Latin Jazz.

About Joel Hanna
Called “one of the most exciting dancers to ever step on the world stage,” Joel Hanna is a internationally renowned dancer and choreographer whose skill set is as impressive and diverse as his resume. Known for his athletic and boundary-breaking mixture of tap dance, musical percussion, Irish dance, and martial arts, Hanna has already lived something of an entertainment fairy tale, having travelled the globe sharing his love for dance through producing, performing, choreographing, and teaching. He toured with Riverdance: The Show, Dancing on Dangerous Ground, was principal dancer in Fire of Dance, Created his own show Revolution: Sweat Dance & Rock’n Roll, has performed the Royal Variety Perfomance, and Radio City Music Hall, and was one of the New York Times 2012 “Picks of the Year” for choreography. On top of that, Hanna has danced for such dignitaries as the President of Yugoslavia, the Papua New Guinea tribal king, the British Royal Family and the United Nations for the opening of the World Youth Assembly.

About Danny Nielsen
Danny Nielsen is one of Canada’s brightest rising young tap talents. Originally from Calgary, he began his rhythm tap career as a founding member of MADD Rhythms Canada under the direction of Lisa La Touche. In 2010, Danny became the ‘Artist in Residence’ with the Vancouver Tap Society for 2 seasons and was the recipient of the Santa Aloi Award from the Scotiabank Dance Centre. He later used that grant to create and direct his first full length production Love.Be.Best.Free. After completing a year with Tapestry Dance Company in Austin TX, Danny has spent the last emerging onto the international tap scene, making his presence felt in Germany, Switzerland, Brazil, Chicago, Mexico, Seattle, and practically all over in countless acclaimed productions, dance festivals, and conventions.

About Jason Samuls Smith
Jason Samuels Smith, recipient of an Emmy; Dance Magazine Award; American Choreography Award; Joyce Foundation Grant; Bessie recognition. Choreography and film credits include “Black Nativity” (associate tap choreographer/security guard #1); Hit Series Psych; CBS’s Secret Talents of the Stars (MYA); “So You Think You Can Dance”; Dancing with The Stars; UPAJ:Improvise; Dean Hargrove’s “Tap Heat”, Outkast’s “Idlewild”; Debbie Allen’s “Cool Women”. Stage Credits include Soul Possessed (leading role); Broadway’s Bring in Da’Noise, Bring in Da’Funk (principal/lead roles); Imagine Tap! (leading role). He also designed and developed a professional tap shoe sold exclusively by BLOCH. Jason continues to travel as an ambassador for tap around the world.
