Up until its closure in January 2013 the Bassment had long been a favourite destination for the more discerning Chelmsford reveller. Almost a year later the doors open once again as the team behind Barhouse & Hooga re-launch the Bassment with a fresh style and vision.
Tucked away on the narrow back streets of Chelmsford, the Bassment provides a slice of London basement bar culture with a focus on design, atmosphere, original cocktail menus, and a musical soundtrack that leans towards the less commercial side of the dance floor.
Expect a midweek mix of shows and entertainment, featuring acoustic acts, jazz funk, bands, comedy, burlesque and themed nights. The weekends offer DJ's serving up a heady mix of disco, funk, indie, reggae, soul and party grooves.
