An emerging artist on the Montreal music scene, Beth McKenna returns to Upstairs with her quartet and brand new compositions, including selections from the popular "514 Project" and new work as well inspired by life experiences, described through music. Beth will be premiering brand new work in addition to some favourites from her "514 Project", which this band performed throughout Montreal at many different venues.

A high-energy performance of groove, jazz and jazz-rock awaits with a four-piece ensemble that takes music to a whole new level through improvisation and spontaneous musical elaboration and inspiration! Beth's compositions are influenced by artists including Maria Schneider, Pat Metheny, Christine Jensen, Radiohead, Brad Mehldau, Snarky Puppy, Donny McCaslin, David Binney and Ben Monder.

Featured in the band for the evening are a variety of Montreal's leading renowned and award-winning jazz artists who are also versatile in a variety of styles and techniques, and some of the most promising rising talent on their respective instruments.

Artiste émergente sur la scène musicale montréalaise, Beth McKenna nous revient au Upstairs avec son quartet et de toutes nouvelles compositions, incluant des sélections de son populaire "514 Project" ainsi que de nouvelles pièces qui décrivent en musique ses diverses expériences de vie. Pendant ses études à l'Université McGill, Beth eut l'opportunité d'étudier sous la direction de grandes pointures du jazz canadien tels que Christine Jensen, Kenny Bibace, Remi Bolduc, Chet Doxas et John Roney.
Une performance énergique de haute voltige au coeur du groove, du jazz et du jazz-rock vous attend avec ce quartet qui pousse sa musique à de nouvelles limites au travers l'improvisation inspirée et l'élaboration musicale spontanée. Les compositions de Beth McKenna sont influencées par différents artistes tels que Maria Schneider, Pat Metheny, Christine Jensen, Radiohead, Brad Mehldau, Snarky Puppy, Donny McCaslin, David Binney et Ben Monder. Au sein de ce groupe brille des artistes jazz aux nombreux accomplissements, d'une immense versatilité et figurant tous parmi les talents les plus actifs et prometteurs de leur instrument respectif.
