Band Of Friends (Rory Gallagher commemoration)
Live at Borderline, Soho.
Band of Friends returns to central London for a great night of classic Blues-Rock (with a capital “R”) to commemorate one of the greatest guitarists the world has ever seen. Rory Gallagher sadly passed away in June, 1995, but his legacy lives on.
Band of Friends are…
GERRY McAVOY (bass – Rory Gallagher, Nine Below Zero)
TED McKENNA (drums – Rory Gallagher, Alex Harvey Band, Gary Moore, Michael Schenker Group, Greg Lake)
MARCEL SCHERPENZEEL (guitar – Gerry is quoted as saying: “This is the closest you will ever get to Rory!
“Having had the privilege of seeing Rory Gallagher live (as well as several tribute acts), I can honestly say that this gig is the closest that anyone will ever come to his sound, style and sheer energy of delivery. This wasn’t a gig, it was a concert. This certainly was a ‘Celebration of the music of Rory Gallagher’ and it’s great to see they are doing a fantastic job of keeping the music of this great musician alive.’ - Rob Dodgson
