Spank ‘n’ the Monkey utilizes state of the art musical sequencing to faithfully reproduce everything from 1960’s classics through to the most current Top 40 hits. With the ability to accurately generate the sound of any musical ensemble - including complex percussion, brass sections and full symphony orchestral backing - few songs are beyond the boys’ ability to cover. Spank ‘n’ the Monkey’s repertoire is deliberately diverse and covers the best songs from each decade since the 60’s. While Spank ‘n’ the Monkey specializes in getting a crowd dancing, they have a range of sets to suit any age group, event or venue, from sophisticated laid-back material to pumping dance-oriented rock.

Murray Roach is a seasoned vocalist with an impressive range. He has performed as a front man for many top Newcastle acts over the past decade and beyond as well as being sort after to sing radio advertising jingles. He is a consummate entertainer with an uncanny ability to draw in the crowd and keep them involved. Murray combines impressive vocals (he has a range exceeding three octaves) with a cheeky stage show to draw the crowd in. His list of credits includes fronting such notable acts as First Degree, In the Red, The Urge and SuperGroove - performing in venues from Sydney to the Gold Coast. Murray has spent over ten years honing his skills as a sound engineer and musical sequencer and brings these skills to Spank ‘n’ the Monkey to ensure the duo’s sound is second to none.

The Monkey has a secretive musical background - rumours of 80's guitar rock stardom, 90's rock and groove, brief flirtations with electronic and classical music, and movie soundtrack work. All these and more make up the patchwork of influences he brings to this duo. He has played with such prominent acts as ‘Supergroove’, and ‘The Urge’. As superb a guitarist as he is, The Monkey is also an accomplished vocalist.
