MARTYN JONES - Lead Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar

MARTYN has made the most of his opportunities that came his way. Possessed of deep musical roots by age fourteen he took up bass guitar and, as he say "began style surfing". After many years of live dates, tours and countless sessions Martyn has become adept on guitar, drumkit and keys, and is also an indemand studio singer.
Martyn was offered the opportunity to front the band BREAKDOWN by his old colleague Dave Mihal, a fine drummer and bandleader he'd worked with early in his career and didn't hesitate. "The chance to front a great lineup of musicians with a guitar in my hands and perform a great night of music for theater audiences doesn't come every day. I jumped at it!" Liverpool born, Canadian raised, Martyn Jones currently makes his living playing music and producing records on Vancouver Island British Columbia.
Martyn is an accomplished musician earning dozens of album credits as a full range studio background singer and multi-instrumentalist. He brings a lifetime of concert experience to his work with Breakdown and injects the authenticity of a veteran performer into this great collection of songs.

HOWARD HELM - Keyboards, Background Vocals
Howard Helm (keyboards, vocals) is originally from Toronto, Canada where he graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music in piano and composition.
In the mid 70’s Howard co-founded CBS/Epic recording artists “Zon” which was a household name in Canada for many years playing tours with Trooper, Triumph, The Tubes, Styx, Foreigner, Alice Cooper and finally headlining their own show (at what is now the Molson Amphitheater) in Toronto drawing 20,000 people in the early 80’s.
During the mid 80’s Howard toured and recorded with Chrysalis and Polygram artists “Refugee” whose videos were a staple on MTV and the North American touring circuit. Refugee was truly an international band playing throughout Canada and the U.S. and had the distinction of being the first rock band to play in Zimbabwe in Africa in 1986. That strange tour was highlighted by the Canadian music channel “Much Music” in a special one hour documentary.
1988 found Howard joining British rock legends, Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson (of Mott the Hoople/David Bowie fame). “The Hunter/Ronson Band” played throughout the world for almost four years before touring stopped when Ronson fell ill. A live album recorded in 1989 for the BBC at the Dominion Theater in London was one of the highlights of Howard’s touring career. While playing with Ian and Mick, Howard has played on stage with Brian May from Queen, Joe Elliot of Def Leppard, Axl Rose and Slash from Guns and Roses, Michael Schenker and Peter Criss from Kiss.
Upon relocating to Tampa Florida in 1988, Howard connected with the Tampa Music scene playing locally and based his production company THM Music Productions Inc. out of Morrisound Recording Studios. In 1994 Howard worked on the first “Trans Siberian Orchestra” album “Christmas Eve and Other Stories” for which he received a platinum album for his contributions. In the 20 years that Howard was at Morrisound Studios he has played on hundreds of albums with artists such as Iced Earth, The Mojo Gurus, Robby Steinhardt of Kansas and wrote much of the theme music for the WCW Wrestling Show with long time friend Jimmy Hart. Howard recorded three albums and toured with Progressive Rock Band Cryptic Vision who opened for Asia, The Flower Kings and Kino in the mid 2000’s. Recently, Howard completed a new original progressive rock album with his long time friend guitarist, engineer, producer Jim Morris.
Howard has written music for Turner Sports, Pepsi, IBM, Universal Studios, The Tampa Bay Lightning, various children’s recordings and movie scores. He has also arranged and scored choral and orchestral music for various projects during his tenure at Morrisound and his work with local churches in the Tampa area.
Howard played live shows throughout the U.S. during the last few years with The Voices of Classic Rock which featured Mike Reno of Loverboy, John Cafferty of the Beaver Brown Band, and singers from The Romantics, Survivor and Kool and the Gang.
Howard relocated to Portland, Oregon in late 2014 and is currently playing live and doing studio work in the Pacific Northwest Area and for clients throughout America.

KYLE HAYNES - Lead Guitar

Kyle Haynes is a self-taught power-house artist and performer on a guitar, and a unique engineer, producer and arranger in the studio. His mix of southern/classic rock playing, and modern production techniques give him his unique, yet familiar style. Born and raised in the Kootenay mountain town of Nelson BC, Haynes was only 17 when he relocated by himself to the Okanagan after graduation and began his career. The prospering valley and surrounding cities provided Haynes with instant opportunities to network with local musicians, as well as play and perform in a variety of venues from an early age.

Presently, Kyle is working in his studio on several projects, including finalizing his debut album of original material. Also, while consistently recording and producing a variety of local artists, Haynes has also kept a full schedule of shows almost year round since 2005. This has led him to become a familiar face in the BC music scene playing on the road with many different bands of all genres and styles. In 2007 he turned down acceptance into 'Berklee School of Contemporary Music' to pursue his own goals. 2008 saw Haynes performing as a guitarist for a number of different rap/hip hop artists. It was during this time he opened for hip hop acts such as "DJ Dopey", "Swollen Members", and "Sweatshop Union. In 2009 Haynes helped form "Kings Horses", a 'Nazareth' Tribute band. Heavy media attention was generated both locally, and internationally, leading to New Years shows in Mazatlan, Mexico. During this time, Kyle also built a long-term working relationship with Bill Bogaardt - Publisher and President of Song Search Music International Co Ltd.

Bogardt and Haynes partnered to produce a local music festival in Penticton which took place in Summer of 2011. This led to the discovery of young Penticton country artist, Nikita Afonso. Haynes was requested to perform bass duties on her self-titled debut album which was released later that year.

Also in 2011, Haynes became a band member of "The Calum Hughes Collective," (CHC) formed out of Kelowna, BC. The CHC opened for acts such as Andrew Allen, and Allan Doyle (Great Big Sea), and eventually signed with HMP Records in 2012. Immediately they recorded the album, "One More Day". which was recorded at Marpole Studios in Vancouver, and mixed and mastered by Delwyn Brooks (ACDC, Van Halen). Haynes recorded electric guitars parts on the album alongside drummer Pat Steward (Bryan Adams, The Odds). Touring alongside a roster of HMP bands, The Calum Hughes Collective embarked on a cross-Canada tour which was filmed, resulting in the documentary entitled, "State of the Art - The Changing Music Business," featuring CHC. In the same year, CHC was a featured winning artist on the 'K97 K-Comp' a Kelowna rock radio station compilation album. A live performance at the Minstrel Cafe, in Kelowna was voted one "'Best 10 Live Shows of 2012' by Awesomeokanagan.com. After three years of intense promotion, performing, and filming a music video ("Average Sunday"), the Calum Hughes Collective took a break. Since then, Haynes has continued to perform in other tribute bands, including filling in on guitar for bands like "The Hip Replacements" ('The Tragically Hip'), and "High Voltage" ('ACDC')

Haynes prides himself in expanding his repertoire of musical and entrepreneurial skills, building a network of musicians, and ever-developing his studio. Haynes finds his niche in his 'old soul' sound and 'new school' technique, however admires and works with musicians of all ages and genres from blues to country to hip hop, dance music and soul.

"I have known and worked with Kyle Haynes over the past 5 years and have used his talents in the Nikita Afonso CD. I know Kyle very well and we have had many hours of discussions on the "business" side of the music industry as well as his his talents as a rock guitarist. I think he is one of the best in Canada. We are currently working on some musical projects together which will see him succeed on the International stage within the next couple of years. He is ambitious, reliable and a very knowledgeable, innovative and smart musician, both on the stage and in the recording studio. I would work with Kyle anytime".

Bill Bogaardt, President - Songsearch Music International Co

Ltd./Award-winning Singer/Songwriter/Founder of The Brothers Bogaardt.

DAVID MIHAL - Drums, Percussion
Influenced by the many great drummers of the 70's, David began playing in his early teens and was soon working at a professional level. Some of his early work included Canadian blues artist Rita Chiarelli and RCA recording artist Shawne Jackson (Domenic Troiano). While living in Toronto and studying with drummer and author Peter Magadini, David was asked to join Canadian jazz icon Oliver Jones and tour the US with Jamaican singer Kenny Hamilton. Living in New York City while touring with that project greatly influenced his musical development, providing the opportunity to meet many of the great artists and drummers of that period, including Elvin Jones. Upon returning to Canada, David spent the early 80's touring and recording with the "Refugee" forerunner "Michael Fury". David is also a long time member of Canada's top Tragically Hip tribute band "The Hip Replacements".

David currently records drum tracks for projects around the world from his private studio in Kelowna BC and, as of 2014, is spending much of his time in Los Angeles.

"I LOVE Tom Petty's music and have a great appreciation of the Heartbreaker’s drummers, Steve Ferrone and Stan Lynch".

GARRY DEZ STRAWFORD - Bass, Background Vocals
Garry is an accomplished professional session and live performance bass player based in the Okanagan. Being a versatile musician for over 30 years, Garry has had the opportunity to be a part of many album projects and live performances., including the Slam Dogs featuring members of The Headpins and Prism, The Rockoholics and various touring acts.
